Raising the Bar
A downloadable game
"Raising the Bar” was made solo — every asset and every line of code was created IN virtual reality. Originally, I intended to submit it for the compo (hence the solo dev), but I decided to give myself a bit more time — by the end of the 48 hours, my music and SFX weren’t even integrated
This is also my very first project on Godot, and I was genuinely impressed by how intuitive it felt (coming from a strong Unity background). It’s also my first-ever VR game — and definitely not the last!
The project is heavily inspired by the South Park scene with James C. There isn’t much gameplay to speak of — which I expected. Honestly, before the jam, I was aiming for just a working “Hello World” considering all the self-imposed challenges… but in the end, I came pretty close to what I envisioned! Some visual effects and dashboard elements are still missing, but that’s fine — I was focused on crafting the mood and atmosphere than actual mechanics.
Everything was made on a Meta Quest 3, using Godot, Virtuoso, and Shapelab Lite! The only time I used my computer was to export the builds.
